In order for Stripe or Square payments to push into Nextech, follow the steps below.
In your Nextech application, open up a test patient. Click on the Billing tab along the top of the screen.
Then, click “New Pay/Ref/Adj”
Then, click “Create a New Payment”
Now, this box will appear, click the three dots:
Then, add a new payment category. To keep things consistent, you should name it something like this:
Next, we’ll want to check and make sure that the card types match what card types NextPatient can push into Nextech. To do so, click these three dots next to the “Card Type” box:
Make note of the card options here, because next we’ll want to compare to what NextPatient’s card payment options are. The one to be on the lookout for is the American Express card type. If Nextech says “AmEx” or something different than “American Express”, you’ll want to update that in NextPatient so that the data is pushed into Nextech correctly (see step #9).
In NextPatient, navigate to Settings → Interface. Make sure that the Payment Category matches EXACTLY what the Payment Category in Nextech was named (Step #5)
In NextPatient, navigate to Settings → Payments. Ensure that these card types match what the Nextech card types are (from step #7). NOTE: If you do not see this “Payment Cards” table in the Payments settings page, please contact your NextPatient Account Manager so that they can enable Payment Push on your account.
After all of these steps are complete, payments will start to push into Nextech! Please note, the payment will still be collected in Stripe/Square, however the payment amount will now show up in the patient’s billing tab, similar to the below photo, with the payment date, “Stripe” or “Square” and it will also include the payment ID from either platform.

PLEASE NOTE: The only payments that are pushed into Nextech are payments that are taken at the time of booking or via the Save-Card-Once feature. This does not include the “No Show” and “Save Card” features of NextPatient. Payments that are collected later, after the booking is complete, completed through Stripe cannot be automatically pushed into Nextech; payments processed later as part of ‘Save-Card-Once’ will push into Nextech. |
